Columbus Crew is a professional soccer team based in Columbus, Ohio, competing in Major League Soccer (MLS). Founded in 1994, the Crew was one of the league’s original ten teams and began play in 1996. The team is affectionately known as “The Crew” and holds a special place in MLS history as the first club to build a soccer-specific stadium, Historic Crew Stadium, which opened in 1999.
