NFL (National Football League) is one of the four professional sports leagues in the United States along with NBA, NHL and MLB. It was established in 1920, but two years later changed its name from APFA to NFL.
Today the NFL consists of 32 teams competing in two separate divisions: AFC and NFC. Every team is obliged to play 16 games with one „bye week”. After the regular season 6 best teams from both divisions continue the rivalry in playoffs (only one game eliminating a losing team).
The final game is between NFC and AFC champion and is called Super Bowl. This exceptional event for the Americans takes place in different cities of the USA . Since 1970 the main trophy for the champions is called „The Vince Lombardy Trophy” in memory of the legendary Greenbay Packers coach – Vince Lombardy.
NFL is the richest and most profitable professional league in the world and therefore average cost for a 30 – second advertisement during the Super Bowl is about 3,5 million U.S. dollars.It is estimated that over 100 million TV viewers enjoy this great event every year at their homes.
