The Atlanta Braves are a professional baseball team based in Atlanta, Georgia. They are a member of the National League (NL) East division in Major League Baseball (MLB). The team was established in 1871 as the Boston Red Stockings, making them one of the oldest continuously operating professional sports franchises in the United States. After several relocations, the franchise settled in Atlanta in 1966.

The Braves experienced their first golden era in the 1990s, becoming one of the most dominant teams of the decade. Led by Hall of Fame pitchers Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz, along with sluggers like Chipper Jones, the team won 14 consecutive division titles from 1991 to 2005. During this period, they also secured a World Series championship in 1995, defeating the Cleveland Indians.

After a period of rebuilding in the late 2000s and early 2010s, the Braves returned to prominence with a new core of young talent, including stars like Ronald Acuña Jr., Ozzie Albies, and Freddie Freeman. In 2021, they won their fourth World Series title, defeating the Houston Astros in six games, bringing renewed excitement to the franchise. The team plays its home games at Truist Park, located in Cobb County, just outside of Atlanta. Known for their passionate fan base and iconic “Tomahawk Chop” chant, the Braves continue to be a significant force in MLB.
